Thoughts and prayers to author Jackie Barbosa~

I think most in the romance community have heard the terrible news about Jackie Barbosa’s son. Even those of us who don’t know Jackie personally were saddened to hear of her loss. Our children are, after all, the loves of our lives.
One thing I particularly admire about romance writers and readers is that we are, despite the popularity of the romance genre, a pretty tight-knit community.
This post, by the lovely and generous Ki Pha, sums up how we are all feeling at the moment.

It has been said that the romance community is the most supportive and generous of all the genre communities. It is.

Last week one of our beloved authors, Jackie Barbosa, lost her seventeen-year-old son in a car accident. Although most of us will never be able to understand the depth of her and her family’s pain, Jackie’s loss is also our loss. We grieve for her and with her.

Today, in support of Jackie, the very talented author, Doing Some Reading will be featuring some of Jackie’s books.

You can also visit for more of Jackie’s books at her site:

Jackie also has 2 free short stories  –THE REIVERandNINE LADIES DANCING(both are historicals) }

A memorial fund has also been set up in her son’s name.

Details to donate can be foundhere. Any and all donation amounts are greatly appreciated.
